Who I Am

A woman with short blonde hair, wearing a pink cap and a gray T-shirt with a bird graphic, sitting in a living room with a ceiling fan, a bookshelf, and a window.

I am a storyteller, strategist, and professional dot-connector.

As @thatdarnchat, I’ve built a community of over 1 million across platforms by putting language to the invisible dynamics shaping our relationships—like weaponized incompetence and the nag paradox—terms I coined and helped bring into the public lexicon. My work sits at the intersection of care, culture, and behavior change, helping people name what they’ve been experiencing but couldn’t quite articulate.

I’m the author of No More Mediocre and co-host of Time to Lean, where I explore what it actually takes to build equitable, sustainable relationships and communities. My work has been featured in publications such as Business Insider, Good Housekeeping, and HuffPost, and I’m regularly brought in as a voice on domestic labor, the mental load, and cultural change.

I am a translator, taking big, often overwhelming ideas into language people can use—whether that’s shifting how we think about care work at home or how organizations communicate with the people they serve.

I’m also a mother of two, a gardener, an audiobook enthusiast, and a neighbor who believes care is both a collective responsibility and a powerful force for change. You’ll find me skipping small talk for deep conversations, listening to audiobooks in the garden, or blasting Mariah Carey with the windows down. I believe in the magic of fairy gardens, the joy of knick-knacks, and the importance of regularly eating popsicles on the porch.

If there’s something I care about, I’m all in—curious, direct, and relentlessly hopeful
